Featured Auction: Tourmaline

Location: Cruzeiro Mine, São José da Safira, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Size: 4.7 × 0.9 × 0.6 cm (Miniature)
Item #: MGR827046
Comments: Really a superb crystal – it is flawless; 95% cut-quality. The clarity is like glass, it doesn´t need any light-source to show the color – yu see this wonderful sky-blue to tropical-sea green even when it is lying in a box. All faces show excellent luster and it is a double termianted with razor sharp end-points at bottom and top. Undamaged.

Lehigh Minerals

Location: Rose Mine, Mt Bross, Alma Mining District, Park County, Colorado
Size: 2 x 2 cm, Thumbnail

Emerald Calcite Pink Flourite
Emerald: Hand sized matrix, 1 inch gem crystal with pyrite inclusions, for which I happily paid $700! Valued at $1000. Sold at auction 3/6/03 Calcite: Exceptional 8 cm sharp crystal with rich color and unusually superb termination. Valued at $100-200. Sold at auction 3/6/03 Pink Fluorite: 18 cm plate

While you were snoozing…somebody “stole” this emerald
specimen for $280 and this very fine calcite crystal for $17.33.
Featured Auction: Quartz included by Hedenbergite, Hematite

Location: Huanggang Mine, Hexigten Banner, Inner Mongolia, China
Size: 19.7 x 8.1 x 3.8 cm
Comments: A dramatic and very elegant quartz cluster comprised of two large quartz crystals and several smaller ones accented by hematite roses and calcite. The two main quartz crystals measure 19.5 and 13.6 cm in length, respectively. All of the quartz crystals are a translucent faint green tint (due to minute hedenbergite inclusions) and the prism faces display a satiny but bright sheen due to a myriad of very small, individual quartz crystals and various forms (prism and pyramid) competing for growth. Only the terminations are largely free of this texture and exhibit a smooth, relatively glassy luster. Three silvery metallic rosettes of hematite to 1.7cm are placed eloquently near the base of the piece amongst other smaller quartz crystals. Two incomplete clusters of creamy white calcite are also present for accent. The quartz crystals are pristine and complete on the front with only two contacted on the backside of the specimen. A truly sculptural piece ! As a bonus, a custom engraved acrylic base is included. From finds of 2016-2017 here, where mining has really slowed down since. Valued $2500

The Mineral Gallery Auctions
Featured Item: Dazzling golden Topaz and Aquamarine crystals with green Fluorite and Smoky Quartz on Albite

Location:  Shigar Valley, Skardu District, Baltistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Northern Areas of Pakistan
Size: 15.5 cm by 13 cm by 11 cm in total size
Item #: MIN#DENVER2020-1
Comments:  This is one of the rarest specimens to come my way in quite some time. Most collectors have never seen this combination because it occurs so rarely and the individual Pegmatitic zones of these gem minerals do not appear together very often. When they do, the specimens are generally smaller and unimpressive, not anywhere near the calibre of this amazing large cabinet plate. This specimen is in excellent condition with fully terminated crystals and no damage. For the combination, the Aquamarines are in amazing condition and display gemmy-clear terminations. The Topaz is quite large with a deep coloration and a gemmy interior. The green Fluorite octahedrons add the perfect touch of color to the foreground. I think they really complete the picture and the plate wouldn’t be the same without them. This combo specimen represents an amazing opportunity to acquire a spectacular and very rare centerpiece. You could search a dozen Tucsons or Denver Shows and not see another one.

Since its inception in 1998, the Natural History department has conducted a series of seven auctions, firmly establishing the company as the forerunner in the field internationally. With consignments culled from private collections, paleontologists, fossil preparators, quarry and mine owners, the auctions are successful in providing specimens which are fresh to the market.

Our auctions are fully illustrated online and through our catalogues and are viewable in person at our Los Angeles galleries.

Kevin Conroy Minerals

It’s been a while since I’ve updated my website. Between selling a house, work, and taking a trip out to the Denver show I didn’t have much spare time. Anyway, an update has been posted, including minerals from new finds: epidote and prehnite from Mali, spessartines from Brazil and China, mordenite and cavansite from India, orpiment from Russia, and tourmaline from Brazil. Also, the mineral auction site I’m involved with is hosting the annual Rocks and Minerals magazine color fund benefit auction.

Regular auctions there will begin October 1st. We plan on having two per week from then on, ending on Monday and Thursday evenings at 8 PM Central Time. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Edwards Minerals

Happy New Year! I am finally back from all of my holiday visits. Since I survived relatives, assembling my sons’ presents, and holiday traffic, I thought I would celebrate with a 15% off sale! Everything, in all galleries, is reduced until January 21.

Also, I know many people in the countries that were hit by the Indian Ocean tsunami. Thailand and Sri Lanka are sources for many gemstones and minerals. 10% of all sales in January, including auctions and eBay, will be donated to reconstruction efforts in those countries

We participate in the auctions at John Veevaert’s website mineral-auctions.com Auctions are held twice a week. Check out the site for some bargains!
